The Warrior — المحارب | Arabic Poetry Art Print | ENJZ
Original giclée on Hahnemühle archival paper. Signed and numbered by the artist.
"ثم أعود معلناً الحرب ولاعناً السلام"
English: Then I return, declaring war and cursing peace.
This piece comes from a poem about the particular stubbornness of someone who keeps surrendering and keeps coming back. The white flag is burned — not in triumph, but in exhaustion with surrender itself. The speaker does not return because he is strong. He returns because he cannot stop.
The form is a faceted geometric solid — a shield, a stone, a medallion — something that has absorbed impact and holds its shape anyway. The patina green surface carries the texture of oxidised metal, of things left in weather for a long time. The copper-rose edges and the gold dust swept across the ground are not decoration. They are what remains after a long war with oneself.
The script sits inside the form like something engraved — not written on the surface but pressed into it. The verse is not a caption. It is the object itself.
Available in multiple sizes from A4 to A0. Edition sizes: A4 (15), A3 (12), A2 (10), A1 (5), A0 (3). Each print is produced on archival-quality Hahnemühle fine art paper to preserve depth, texture, and tonal nuance.
ENJZ works with Arabic language as both meaning and material — original poetry composed by the artist, turned into visual works. The text in this piece is not transcribed or decorative. It was written by Zein Sourany.
